Surprises no one asked for, but was it all bad?

Image
What 2020 gave us? A few extra kilograms, a lot of sulking, depression, bad news, comic relief acts of banging and lighting announced by the government, favourite clothes gathering dust, perfumes and makeups lying unused, relationships going long-distance for months, and of course, staying locked down at home and away from parties and social gatherings. But was it all that we got from this year? When before 2020 did we spend hours and days and months with our family at a stretch? Before this year, when did we get so much time to look back, sit, think, rectify mistakes, be creative, and find joy in smaller things of life? Before this pandemic, how much time did we dedicate to pamper ourselves and pamper our loved ones? We have always been so engrossed in the running faster than others that we never felt thankful for what we had, and even if we did, did we live in the present or were always planning on what next? This year for me has been harassment if I put it in a word but what I can...

Nama Khushwant

Image
This man claimed to be an atheist but then when the Indian army raided the Golden Temple, he had burst out and returned his Padma Bhushan in protest of the incident. Had been a very secular thinking person but had studied and written about Sikhism in depth and had criticized all religious believes majorly often barring Sikhism for some unknown reason or a very simple reason which goes without saying that he was a Sikh at heart. But above everything else he was a man of substance, a man whose writings were delight indeed and literary pleasure. Khushwant Singh and Amitav Ghosh were the two men holding whose hands i came to the world of adult literature. When I first read 'Paradise and other stories', my sexual zeal got a new boost or rather found a way of fulfillment through reading truly but at the same time it touched me and made me take interest in his works. I was further moved by 'Train to Pakistan' which is a must in almost everybody's bookshelves and has...

In memory of my Bhai

Image
It was a loving 'Bhai' by which my grandfather used to call me and i answered back with the same. My dearest bhai passed away on the second of last month and its been more than a month now. Life goes on and it is no exception for me either. But somewhere there is a void, for the first time i lost someone so near and dear to me. These are compulsory pains of life. But, the memories do not understand and they seem to come back again and again only to make me feel more void. So, i thought of writing a few lines here in my blog. The fondest memories which i have of Bhai are those childhood days when i used to go out with my bhai almost everyday. And sometimes my didu (grandmother) used to accompany us. And then i had got the habit of walking, which i have lost a lot now. And i had a habit of buying loads of pens which was fulfilled most of the time by my bhai. Buying pens and especially the costly ones was like a hide and seek game with my parents because they never appreciated it...

They at last successfully murdered Sarabjit Singh ... mean and shameless establishment

Image
How can a country be so shameless and mean ? Its something to be really thought of ... a country like Pakistan does not need a court because its laws are of no use , they do whatever they want with no basis. They kept Sarabjit in prison for 22 years when we know that a life sentence cannot be more than 14 years. Moreover Sarabjit Singh had strayed off to Pakistan because he was drunk and then he was caught and made into a spy and terrorist. They made him 'Manjit Singh' for their ease because they knew well that they would not be able to justify him being a terrorist. When time and again the court postponed his death sentence due to lack of evidence and like this 22 long years past , they had nothing else to do to show how big-mouthed pigs they are , they murdered him out of anger that we hanged two of their terrorists (read 'sons') , when they were proved to be terrorists , atleast in the case of Kasab. Afzal Guru case had many complexities i agree but atleast ...

An Ode to Women

Image
Not a day can define the spirit of Womanhood for sure ...... every day is yours women ..... This is a salute to all the wonderful women of this World . Its such a great thing that we celebrate and dedicate this day to womanhood . I am writing poem after almost a year and am feeling very nice that am writing for Women's Day ... Women .... we admire  Women .... we love Women .... we worship  And women we fear Women were made with utter care They may seem soft and delicate But strength is all that builds them from inside They love with all they have  And , expects the same when she is sad When we think that God does not exist Go to your mother and see into her eyes You will know what God really is How long will Women be glorified in writings ? Are they not worth anything more ? In what society do we live ? Where mother is raped and beaten up .... and no one is there to help her No one is there to stand by her  ...

Dedicating the first anniversary post of this blog to a good cause!

Image
Today i completed one year of this blog and in this one year we have talked about various issues and i have always tried to get my views to the audience and i am also eager to get the response from you all out there. However, its really tough to bring a real 'change' in the society. One of the most shameful acts of the society still now is the killing of the girl child. Its actually very shameful to even write about this issue because we are the idiots who proclaim that we are developing. When on one hand women are compared to shakti (power) and they are proving their worth, on the other hand girl child is still undesirable to many parents. I really do not get any logic behind this desire for a boy and i am very that the parents who find girls undesirable also do not have any reason behind it. The day before yesterday i came across two news which told the ill fate of two newborn girl child who were miserably tortured and killed by their father. I get goosebumps e...

Its 'not' just another Love Story

Image
Valentine's Day is celebrated as the day of Love, it does not mention about the gender or sexual orientation so here i am putting up for my audience a very different type of a Love Story. People around especially in some developing and underdeveloped countries still do not take Homosexuality as something normal so i thought of giving it some thought, its a wonderful story, read it patiently. This story is about something very sensitive, love but between men. Homosexuality and Bisexuality are things that people do not want to take as normal even when they know it is very normal. People think that supporting the fact is proving yourself to be the same and its a shame! Is it really a shame? Will you kill your soul for the sake of what others think?  For now, let all these serious topics be kept aside, we can discuss it in some other post. Lets celebrate love without discrimination.  So here is a story to celebrate Valentine's Day.         ...

Revolution 2011

Image
We have almost reached the end of yet another wonderful year, 2011. I started blogging this very year and so i feel this year is special for me. I felt so good writing down all my thoughts here for public viewing. However this year also saw a revolution around the world. There was so much revolt and this year will always be in news for that. Firstly coming to Libya, it was the biggest horror event of the year.  The event was horrifying but it resulted in the fall of a dictator. The fall of Gaddafi will go down in history. Gaddafi died a brutal death, it was hugely cherished by the people of Libya. so, it was truly a revolution. India saw a turmoil when Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi and Baba Ramdev stood against corruption. It saw large number of revolts around the country and even outside the country, among Indians. I do not know how much it helped the mass but one thing is for sure, it made the ministers and politicians aware that we Indians are not deaf and dumb and we ve...
