'Special' did something quite risky very comfortably to become a casual revolutionary series

The Netflix series 'Special' ended at its prime and it was just the second season. The show might not be a huge hit across the world but has created the right amount of ripple with its very plain and simple life like treatment of everything that can be made dramatic very easily. The show being semi-autobiographical, Ryan O'Connell (the protagonist and creator of the show) could have gone wrong at multiple points if he tried to do anything else but then rather than treading by the white, sweet, sentimental path always, he treaded on the risky black and grey more often. The protagonist of the show is Ryan Hayes (Ryan O'Connell), who is gay and has mild cerebral palsy. He is a writer and when season one starts, he is staying with his mother and quite dependent on her. His mother Karen Hayes is played by Jessica Hecht with absolute ease. The show is revolutionary but does not make a lot of hype and hoopla about anything at all which makes this casual approach even more impa

The government has failed miserably but the people are fighting back like never before!

This country currently has a government at the centre that came to power with a huge majority, a landslide victory and that too for the second time in a row. Great! So, the people of the country must have felt a great sense of support from them and must have thought that they would develop the country to make itself sufficient in every way and take it to newer heights with every passing year. Right? Little did we know that it is the Rs. 3000 crore statue which would reach great heights to become the tallest statue in the world. We are also adding another humongous temple to our long list of temples and mosques and the government is personally looking into its construction. The grand central vista is being built which will have a palatial accommodation for the prime minister besides everything else.  So, what does all these say about this country? The country must be a developed country with all the basic needs looked into and the education, health, food, shelter infrastructure almost

Whatever be the outcome!

According to different media houses, India has never witnessed such an aggressive state election since independence like this 2021 assembly election of West Bengal. And that election is finally over! A lot of foul play, a lot of mudslingings, a lot of horse-tradings and of course killings too. However besides the dirty horse-trading which has not been this shamelessly aggressive before there was another thing Bengal politics witnessed this year, and how, religion and caste-based polarisation in politics. This particular style of politics is not new in India and is rampant in different Northern, Southern and Western states but with the years of Left and other secular rules, this style of politics did not find acceptance in the state. The election might be over, the people who polarised might not come to power but what will stay back is the bitterness. That is where the struggle starts, to overcome this hurdle and get back to how things used to be. India is like a continent where each st

Bhodroloks flirting with fascist forces? Disrupting the Bangla fabric is both tough and dangerous!

Image
Bhodrolok (the Bangla word for gentleman) is not something that exists only among Bangalis and like many think is the ego of all Bangalis is also not true according to me. However, there lies a very major difference and that lies in who are considered to be part of the bhodrolok society or if I may put, people who are looked up to and are considered as social leaders in a Bangali society and many other parts of India. Bhodrolok here has nothing really to do with money although there might be many who have it but again they are considered bhodrolok for the intellect, for the knowledge, and maybe also for their degrees and secular midset. I would not say that Bangali society is the only society in India who believes in this but surely is one of the few and that is why fundamentalist powers and polarisation politics have failed to make a mark time and again. Like what we are seeing in the case of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bengal is like their last frontier and most probably they d
