What are we protesting against?

Image
A fashion called candle march is the new trend in town. Its not new for sure but nowadays we are having too much of them beacause we have many reasons very frequently without at the end of the day having any fruitful result. We march because we love to walk and added flavour to it is a candle in hand. Wow!! Who can afford to miss it? I AM WITH CANDLE MARCH...... because we need to roar and make the idiots out there know that we are not sleeping , that if needed we can also roar and protest for our rights, protest against what is wrong. But, the end result? Nothing, no change. Leave aside the rapists and murderers against whom we are protesting, after this candle march is over then the next day if we find a girl lying unclad on a street shouting for help or a man crying with pain because someone has shot him.... i am sure most of the people will try to hurriedly pass that scene and have a jolly ride to wherever he/she is going without even bothering to help. We often hear

'Shanghai' is a Masterpiece, 'Ferrari ki Sawaari' is nice and enjoyable

Image
This month we had three back to back 'good film' released, namely 'Shanghai', 'Ferrari ki Sawaari' and 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. However i have not watched the last one yet. Will soon watch it. but i watched the other two and both were impressive. While 'Shanghai' was a really path-breaking film, 'Ferrari ki Sawaari' is a commercial film with a different touch. First, coming to the 8th June release 'Shanghai' and in one word its a masterpiece. Its a Benchmark film and Bollywood has not seen such a film in years. Directed by the immensely talented Dibakar Banerjee who had previously proved his worth with films like 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!' and 'Love Sex Aur Dhoka'. The film has a wonderful caste, consisting of Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin and Prosenjit Chatterjee in the leads. The film also has Farooq Sheikh, Pitobash Tripathy and Supriya Pathak in important roles among othe

The age of Seventeen

Image
Its a tribute to a very special age, an age when we seem adult but we are not. We are always in a dilemma and in a hurry to grow up. Some of the things are common in many age groups but i find seventeen particularly very interesting so i chose it to write down a poem. I wrote it when i was seventeen so i have used 'we' time and again. An age to be cherished, an age to be nourished. Those who waste it surely gets punished. Full of energy, full of joy. We are always too active and most of the time- upto some mischief. An age when we- can never be a sage. Within an year we- will be out of our cage. Life is a stage. And we give our best, at this age. We are neither adult nor child. But thats something we don't mind. We think that- We are the ultimate being and we know everything. We question as such we know too much. A phase of life, where we taste every spice. From love to hate. From good to bad. Some make us happy, some sad. Some eve

Dedicating the first anniversary post of this blog to a good cause!

Image
Today i completed one year of this blog and in this one year we have talked about various issues and i have always tried to get my views to the audience and i am also eager to get the response from you all out there. However, its really tough to bring a real 'change' in the society. One of the most shameful acts of the society still now is the killing of the girl child. Its actually very shameful to even write about this issue because we are the idiots who proclaim that we are developing. When on one hand women are compared to shakti (power) and they are proving their worth, on the other hand girl child is still undesirable to many parents. I really do not get any logic behind this desire for a boy and i am very that the parents who find girls undesirable also do not have any reason behind it. The day before yesterday i came across two news which told the ill fate of two newborn girl child who were miserably tortured and killed by their father. I get goosebumps e

'Kahaani' is a wonderful journey!

Image
'Kahaani' has once again proved that the type of audience is changing and they want something different in the form of films like  'Kahaani' or 'Paan Singh Tomar'. 'Kahaani' has got critical appeciation and box office success too. A wonderful suspense thriller starring Vidya Balan in the lead. It is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and also stars several other actors - Parambrata, Indraneil, Saswata, Kharaj, Siddique, Shantilal and many more. Abir Chatterjee is seen in a special appearance as Vidya's husband. The whole film is set in Kolkata which makees the film even more special. The story is of a lady who has come to Kolkata to take revenge of her husband's death. However she pretends that she is pregnant and is in search of her husband. She uses the Kolkata Police without their knowledge and slowly arrives towards her target through many traps. Atlast the whole story unfolds with Vidya getting to the person who was responsible in her husband&#

'Abar Bomkesh' and 'Bhooter Bhobishyat' are commendable!

Image
Both these film released back to back in March and went on to be hits. Two absolutely different genres, and quite successful too certainly with some faults. Coming to the 16 march'12 release 'Bhooter Bhobishyat', directed by debutant Anik Dutta. Although 'bhoot' is the central factor of the film, it is of the comic genre and the talented ensemble cast pulled it off well. The cast had Sabyasachi, Parambrata, Bibhu Bhattacharjee, Swastika, Mumtaz, Samadarshi, Paran Bandopadhyay, George Baker, Meer, Saswata, Kharaj, Biswajit and many more. Monami and Srilekha were seen in guest appearances. Wonderful acting and some hilarious dialogues make this film watchable. Although the story is very simple and has a predictable ending but still it does not lessen the essence of the film much. Swastika looks gorgeous in the traditional attire. The songs make the film even more funny. Meer gives an expectedly nice performance. Samadarshi is little less good because he has a pecul

The Queen of Million Hearts: Rani Mukerji

Image
I am sure she is the lady who rules the hearts of millions of people around the globe and i am also no exception. :) She was born on 21st March, 1978 in the film oriented prestigious Bengali Mukherjee family of Mumbai from where Kajol Devgn and Ayan Mukerji (director of Wake Up Sid) also hails. She is undoubtedly counted as one of the finest actresses of the Indian film Industry ever. And thats why she commands respect from the whole industry. She is still so much in demand after 15 long years in this industry. She holds record at the Filmfare awards as the actress with the maximum number of awards to her name and also the only actress to have won the Critics and Popular choice award in the same year. She holds record at the IIFA as the only actress to have won the best actress awards consecutively three years. And above all awards, her films prove say it all, that she is a powerhouse of talent. She does wonders to even worsts of scripts. She has an Indian figure and

Mother Language

Image
Kazi Nazrul Islam A gem of Bengali literature UNESCO's declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day had brought fresh glory and prestige to Bangladesh which is making significant strides towards peace, progress and prosperity at home and discharging International obligations abroad. After 1952, the people of Bangladesh have been observing the 21st day of February as their glorious and unforgettable Language Martyrs Day. What happened on 21st February 1952 is widely known. Still let me very briefly recount the fateful happenings of that day and the circumstances that led to and followed them. In August 1947, a new state called Pakistan, comprising two far-flung wings in the west and east, separated by 1600 kilometers of foreign territory, emerged on the world map. The ideological basis of that strange phenomenon was the absurd and pernicious two nation theory of Mr. Jinnah that ignored such basic elements as language and culture and co

Mamata please think before you speak!

Image
The title of the post is vague and i have deliberately done it! The title is addressed to our beloved Chief Minister of Paschimbanga - Mamata Banerjee as we can see. Mamata has always been very outward and rowdy and has committed thousands of mistakes for this nature of her's. However, since she became the Railway Minister and before the elections  in Paschimbanga we got to see a calm Mamata who has stopped biting police personnel, tearing her own blouse and laying on road. We all were really looking upto her because she had overcome her big faults and now she was ready to lead our state. But now seeing her as the months are passing by it seems like it was also a huge election game.  When she was not the CM, she had commented that the Gyaneshwari accident was done by CPI(M), she was proved wrong but she did not learn from her mistakes. She called hundreds of Bandhs every year and life came to a standstill but now she is telling that bandhs are not good, no bandhs should be c

Its 'not' just another Love Story

Image
Valentine's Day is celebrated as the day of Love, it does not mention about the gender or sexual orientation so here i am putting up for my audience a very different type of a Love Story. People around especially in some developing and underdeveloped countries still do not take Homosexuality as something normal so i thought of giving it some thought, its a wonderful story, read it patiently. This story is about something very sensitive, love but between men. Homosexuality and Bisexuality are things that people do not want to take as normal even when they know it is very normal. People think that supporting the fact is proving yourself to be the same and its a shame! Is it really a shame? Will you kill your soul for the sake of what others think?  For now, let all these serious topics be kept aside, we can discuss it in some other post. Lets celebrate love without discrimination.  So here is a story to celebrate Valentine's Day.
