'Iti Mrinalini' is awesome! 'Bedeni' and 'Bye Bye Bangkok' are also good in their own ways.

This Aparna Sen is undoubtedly one of her finest till date. She is one of the finest directors of India and i look forward to all her films very eagerly. She has come up with a Bengali film after about 11 years and this is worth the wait. The film opens with an aged actress, Mrinalini Mitra writing a letter before ending her life and through this many memories crowd in her memory from her younger days. The younger version is played by Konkona Sen Sharma very efficiently. This film tells the story of love, lust, loss and much more. The different male figures in Mrinalini's life are played by Priyanshu Chatterjee, Rajat Kapoor, Saheb Bhattacharjee and Koushik Sen. What i felt was that Besides Aparna and Konkona, the actor who is great in this film is Koushik Sen. The story is knit in such a beautiful way that it explores human feelings wonderfully. How she overcomes every barrier of her life, sometimes we are so lonly, sometimes things are out of control but we need to let go of all these and this is something we can relate to. The ending of this film makes the whole experience even better A new day starts, a new life awaits her and then as she keeps away her unfinished letter and decides not to end her letter, goes out of her house with her dog for a walk but then something disastrous . the music by Debajyoti Mishra adds to the beauty of this film. So this is another masterpiece for the bengali film industry.

Set in the backdrop of Purulia, this Anjan Das film is based on a story of the same name by Tarashankar Bandopadhyay. It tells the story of a snake charmer's wife which is played very efficiently by Rituparna Sengupta. It is a woman centric film and the lead actress does full justice to it. The folk songs are very suitable and keeps buzzing in your ears. Rajesh Sharma plays the snake charmer very well, However Indraneil Sengupta is not very good in his role. Rimjhim Gupta does justice to whatever little she had to do in the film. How strong love or lust can be and to how extreme can one go to get what she wants is the theme of this film. The language and the backdrop is awesome, it will surely take us to the countrysides where things are so down to earth till now. Its yet another watchable film for off stream film audience from Anjan Das.

This comedy film by Aniket Chattopadhyay is undoubtedly one of the best bengali comedy films of recent times. Aniket Chattopadhyay had shown his potential in his previous film itself, 'Chha e Chhuti'. This film boasts of a wonderful ensemble cast comprising of Rudranil, Kanchan, Anjana, Swastika, Kanchana, Kharaj, Shonali, Locket, Neil, Shilajit, Priya and more. This film has some hilarious scenes. Rudranil, Kanchan and Swastika are particularly fantastic but everyone is great. This film tells the story of some couples tour to Bangkok however not with their own partners and this results in many confusions which is the main theme here. This is a must watch for comedy film lovers and also for those who think that comedy films nowadays are very cheap, this one stands out.
