These two news really moved me...extreme unruliness
I came across these two news articles, maybe many of you have heard about them but i came to know recently and they really disturbed my mind. One is a recent incident and the other is a incident which took place long back. Both show the torture that took place and is still taking place on women.
Coming to a recent incident in Iran which shows the unruliness of the Governing body of that nation. This incident is that of Marzieh Vafamehr. The Iranian opposition website Kalaemeh.com says the Iranian court has sentenced actress Marzieh Vafamehr to 1 year imprisonment and 90 lashes for portraying social alienation, artistic repression and drug use in the country in an Australian-made film. The 2009 film portrayed a Tehran actress who has been banned from theater by the authorities. The character was then forced to join Tehran’s cultural underground in order to express herself artistically, then started to craft a plan to leave Iran for exile abroad. Vafamehr reportedly appeared with a shaved head and no headscarf in the movie. The film exposed cultural oppression and drug use in Iran. 'My Tehran for Sale' had premiered at the Adelaide film festival in 2009. However, it had not been approved for screening in Iran and was being distributed illegally. Vafamehr was arrested in July and received the lashing at the weekend for her lead role in the movie 'My Tehran for Sale'. She was accused of taking part in a movie which did not have the required permits for shooting. However, both her filmmaker husband Nasser Taghvai and the movie’s director Granaz Moussavi said there was no basis for the accusation. Taghavi, a prominent Iranian film director and writer, told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that his wife’s arrest was indeed related to the film and was non-political. Although never intended for release in Iran, it is believed to have found its way on to the black market.
Although reports suggest that the Iranian censor board itself had passed the script of the film before the film was made.So, this was the incident where an actress was lashed 90 times and jailed for acting in a film that portrays the truth. Oh God these tortures seem like too devilish to digest!
And this other incident took place in 1988-89 in Japan. A 16 year old girl named Junko Furuta was tortured for 44 days till she died. Furuta tried to escape several times, begging the parents to help her, but they did nothing, apparently out of fear that the boys would hurt them.According to their statements at their trial, the four of them raped her, beat her with metal rods and golf clubs, introduced foreign objects including a light bulb into her vagina, made her eat cockroaches and drink her own urine, inserted fireworks into her anus and set them off, forced Furuta to masturbate, cut her nipple with pliers, dropped dumbbells onto her stomach, and burned her with cigarettes and lighters. One of the burnings was punishment for attempting to call the police. It was also stated that some time after the first acts of torture, she became unable to drink water, which would cause her to vomit whenever she attempted to do so. At one point her injuries were so severe that according to one of the boys it took more than an hour for her to crawl downstairs to use the bathroom. They also related that "possibly a hundred different people" knew that Furuta had been imprisoned there, but it is not clear if this means they visited the house at different times while she was imprisoned there, or themselves either raped or abused her. When the boys refused to let her leave, she begged them on several occasions to "kill (her) and get it over with". On January 4, 1989, following a loss at mahjong solitaire, the four beat her with an iron barbell, poured lighter fluid on her legs, arms, face and stomach, and set her on fire. She died later that day of shock. The four boys claimed that they were not aware of how badly injured she was, and that they believed she had been malingering.On January 5, the killers hid her corpse in a 55-gallon drum filled with concrete; the perpetrators disposed the drum in a tract of reclaimed land.
Shiver goes down the spines even on the thought of such inhuman torture. However the saddest part of the whole incident is that the criminals has been let loose after a few years in jail, the unruliness lies here.
