'Abar Bomkesh' and 'Bhooter Bhobishyat' are commendable!

Both these film released back to back in March and went on to be hits. Two absolutely different genres, and quite successful too certainly with some faults.

Coming to the 16 march'12 release 'Bhooter Bhobishyat', directed by debutant Anik Dutta. Although 'bhoot' is the central factor of the film, it is of the comic genre and the talented ensemble cast pulled it off well. The cast had Sabyasachi, Parambrata, Bibhu Bhattacharjee, Swastika, Mumtaz, Samadarshi, Paran Bandopadhyay, George Baker, Meer, Saswata, Kharaj, Biswajit and many more. Monami and Srilekha were seen in guest appearances. Wonderful acting and some hilarious dialogues make this film watchable. Although the story is very simple and has a predictable ending but still it does not lessen the essence of the film much. Swastika looks gorgeous in the traditional attire. The songs make the film even more funny. Meer gives an expectedly nice performance. Samadarshi is little less good because he has a peculiar habit of talking too fast at time but he is fine. The story revolves around a community of ghosts, their prtoblem of 'living' and interference of human beings in their life.

Next coming to the bigger release and the bigger hit - 'Abar Bomkesh'. Based on the novel 'Chitrachor' by Sharadindu, this much loved Bengali detective is back in the silver screen. Directed by Anjan Dutta and starring Abir Chatterjee, Saswata and Ushoshi Chakroborti in the leads besides Koushik Sen, Sudipa, Chandan, Biswajit, Sujon, Pijush Ganguly and many more. Swastika is seen in a special guest appearance. The best part of this story is that it explores the chemistry of Byomkesh and his wife Satyabati. The story revolves around a stolen group photo from Biswajit's house. The different shades of this simple story makes you sit up and watch it. The theme song by Neel Dutta is to some extend commendable. And the actors are quite good in their own roles. A fine watch and the setup takes to back in time too.
