Towards a better tomorrow

Since the time I came to know that an individual can also become parent, a single parent, I have always wanted to become a father. However, as I grew older and realised that I am much more privileged than my parents ever were, I started thinking that I will adopt a child only if I can give a better life to that child when compared to mine. So, I have always liked to believe that the cycle goes exactly like this, a tomorrow better than today and a day after tomorrow better than tomorrow.

But, are the privileges granted to us enough to change the world? I would say, ‘No’. But, who is asking us to change the world? Change one life, motivate one person, help one in need and the act will be reciprocated, the act will spread far and wide to make the world a better place.

Every time when we are reluctant to help, we are citing examples of other people not doing the same and you doing one good act, noble act, kind act or responsible act cannot really do much. So, in all this confusion and lack of confidence we hurt whom or what? We hurt the tomorrow, we hurt the tomorrow of the person, the tomorrow of the environment, the tomorrow of the world which could have been better which this one act of ours. We abstain ourselves from an act of goodness and deprive someone somewhere who could have had a better life some day with one act of ours.

Love can do wonders and so can kindness so never give up on these. One fine day waking up and seeing there is no poverty, every child goes to school, the world is all green and clean, no water is water, no food is thrown away, all these are far-fetched goals and will surely take a lot of time but we will surely reach there with each of our individual efforts.

But, where to start from to build a better world? The task is vast! Start with politeness, start with empathy and rest will all fall in place slowly. Make the world a better place for the people we interact with on a daily basis, make the world a place where people can stay calm, can stay happy, can cry and not be judged, can laugh and not be stared at, can walk freely, eat freely, dress freely and in turn put all the efforts that we put in being judgmental in doing small acts of goodness whichever gives us happiness.
