The convenience of the past

If I say that there is a thin line of difference between history and mythology, I would actually sound foolish because as similar might people try to make them look like they are very different, but can coexist without harming or dishonoring each other to most extent. Ideally history is something that has happened in the past and it is not about fictional beings or places but mythology has a religious connotation to it and facts are put forward to show the greatness of some religion or culture that might or might not have happened in the past.

History nowadays are meddled with to the extent that school kids in Karnataka are being taught that Savarkar used to sit on the wings of a bulbul bird and fly from Andaman to the mainland and if I am not wrong there had been some incident of Narendra Modi fighting a crocodile as a child only to defeat the crocodile.. Blurring these lines of history, mythology, truth, lies, facts and myths is very dangerous because we will have a generation who will be utterly confused, ignorant and very arrogant about the wrong things. Meddling the past to change the present has been a tool since ages and is now more rampant than ever before because afterall ‘good days’ are here again.

Claiming Taj Mahal to be Tejo Mahalaya or Qutb Minar to be Vishnu Stambh nowadays does not need us to study history or do any research as such, it just needs some brainless zombies screaming from the top of their roof and immediately the others follow like some scene straight from a Hollywood apocalypse movie. No one bothers to check, no other bother to verify, empathy and compassion as it is has lost relevance in lives long back so better to not even mention about them.

The people in power are such spineless creatures that the best they can do is either blame the past or change the past but rarely work on the present. When Bengaluru floods, BJP blames INC, when the economy fails, BJP blames INC and when the scams come out in the open TMC blames CPI(M), and all this after the current rulers being in powers for two or more terms now.

Do we even bother to go back and verify the truth? If we do well and good but if we do not then we can just sit back and make a fool of ourselves as the past is conveniently meddled with to stay in power for years to come. One power will go, another will come, what will remain constant is our misery and their past blaming. There will always be some facts here and there being twisted but there is a huge responsibility on the people in power to take the population atleast that seriously that they do not pass a man flying on a bulbul as historical fact because going by that some day Marvel might claim Hawkeye to be real and DC might very well claim Wonder Woman to be the next presidential candidate for USA in some parallel universe.
